As soon as the first trailer of Ant-Man made its way to the Internet, its fans started thinking that they were going to be treated to a new installment of Spider-Man in the form of a movie franchise. In fact, it is almost as if this trailer was made just for us. However, it will be understandable for the fans to become quite anxious about how the movie will turn out.
The story of the movie, as written by Edgar Wright, is quite complex. The movie starts with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), working for his father Howard as a handyman, who finds himself being transformed into a super hero. He is teamed up with Janet Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) to become The Wasp. Together, they are trying to stop an evil scientist known as Dr. Hank Pym (Ethan Hawke) from using his latest invention in order to create a suit that would allow him to look like any other man, which will help him infiltrate and change into any of his other disguises.
Ant-Man is the story of an entourage. The Ant-Man crew includes Scott Lang's father Howard, his ex-wife Janet Van Dyne, and his best friend and assistant, Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly). The film has an excellent cast of characters that have their own roles to play in the movie. In fact, the movie was shot in New York City, which makes it even more exciting.
Ant-Man's costume is made from rubber, so it must be lightweight and comfortable to wear. The costume is essentially a hooded jumpsuit with metal armor around the neck and shoulders. This armor helps the character to move his arms and legs. The character also has some extra gear like a belt that can be worn to carry objects, such as the shield or something similar, or an air tank that he can use in the event of emergency.
The movie features a large number of special effects that have been digitally enhanced. For example, there is a sequence when a squirrel gets caught in the ant's webbing. It is hard to imagine the animation that went into such a small detail, but the result was great. The insect turns out to be just like the real thing, and the cast gives a realistic impression.
The cast also consists of a number of other professionals, such as a former FBI agent named Abby Yates (Hope Davis), who works for the fictional security firm called Pym Technologies. She also seems to be the only one who thinks that Ant-Man is not a superhero. The movie's villain, Dr. Hank Pym, is played by Michael Douglas. His role in the movie is a bit ambiguous; nevertheless, his presence is felt all throughout the movie.
Although the trailer does not provide too much detail, it looks like the movie will not be just another Spider-Man rip-off. Therefore, we can anticipate that we will see some elements of the Marvel Comics' original hero. It will be interesting to see whether the film will match the amazing nature of the earlier movies, especially the original comic, and the characters from other Marvel films, such as the X-Men.
One important issue is that whether or not Scott Lang will be able to trust his fellow entourage members. Based on the teaser trailer, we can expect that this movie will bring back the romantic relationships between love interests. Whether or not we will get the familiar romantic comedy theme from the previous Ant-Man movies remains to be seen.
