Synopsis

The American production company Warner Bros Pictures, presents a film based on the events that occurred on February 23, 1981, in Spain.

The film is directed by one of the great personalities of the cinematographic world of Spain, the teacher Chema de la Peña, and produced by Gonzalo and Ignacio Salazar Simpson; the artistic direction was in charge of Antón Laguna; while the adaptation of the script was the responsibility of Joaquín Andújar, in terms of musicalization and sound we find Antonio Fernández Ruiz and Sergio Burmann, Photography, David Azcano; and María José Iglesias costumes.

The acting cast is made up of the first Spanish actor Francisco Martínez Pous, better known as Paco Pous, who will play Lieutenant Colonel of the Civil Guard Antonio Tejero; the Spanish actor, director, and musician Fernando Cayo Jiménez Álvarez will play King Juan Carlos I; veteran actor Juan Diego Ruiz Moreno will be Alfonso Armada; the versatile actor Mariano Venacio Torres plays Sabino Fernández Campos; Gines García Millán will be Adolfo Suarez; José Luis Castro Zahera plays Jesús Muñecas Aguilar; Luis Callejo will be Santiago Vecino; José Pera will play Santiago Carrillo; Pedro Manuel Ortiz Domínguez will be Eduardo Fuentes; José Manuel Seda will be Felipe Gonzales, Francisco Ochoa will be Alfonso Guerra; Luis Moreno will be Prince Felipe of Asturias; Juan Carlos Calot will be Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo; the theater actress Olga Lozano will be Queen Sofia of Spain; Clara and Cristina Álvarez will be the infantas Cristina and Elena de Borbón and Grecia respectively; Atior Mazo will be Ricardo Pardo Zancada, Manolo Solo will be Fernando Castedo, and the well-known Juanma Lara will play Juan García Carres.

23-F is the first film that attempts to relate the events that occurred during the coup attempt of nineteen eighty-one, perpetrated by some officers of the military high command, the actions were commanded by Lieutenant Colonel of the Civil Guard Antonio Tejero.

This, as all situations of this nature generally keep hidden stories and different justifications depending on the rapporteur and the point of view of the listener, however, the goal was only one, to overthrow the government on duty for that moment.

The tape begins with the taking of the congress; allowing us to relive the seventeen and a half hours more criticism of a Spanish democracy that was just born; as it is supposed to exist two clearly identified sides, of aside the Civil Guard under the command of Tejero, who orchestrated all the tactical movements of field; on the other side King Juan Carlos I, who tries to negotiate with the high command to stop the coup.

So far there seems to be something new, the uprising of a group of soldiers who want power; however, this did not happen, since in the midst of the confusion and the dispute that kept the Spanish people in vigil; other actors appear demonstrating greater hierarchy and forcefulness to take power.

An example of this was the lifting of the third military division in the province of Valencia; Captain-General Jaime Milans Del Bosh takes command of the military base and deploys his men in the streets of the city, sowing panic among the inhabitants.

And if that were not enough, the newly appointed Second Chief of the General Staff of the Army, General Alfonso Armada, also revolts and joins his companions in search of the conquest of power, Armada being the trusted man of King Juan Carlos I within the armed forces it hits a hard blow to the ruling rulers.

So this fascinating film tries to dismantle all the events of that fateful day of Spanish history.
